*Location: CENTRAL OFFICE

Compensation: Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Certified Salary Schedule for class code 0030.

Hours Per Day: 7.5

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

· Be highly motivated, organized, and excel at team building.

· Hold or be eligible for certification as a Director of Pupil Personnel in KY.

· Hold KY Professional Certification for Superintendent

· Principal experience is preferred, but not required

 

 

Knowledge Of:

· Proficient computer skills including use internet, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, email, Infinite Campus, and other education related platforms.

· Subject matter in area of assignment.

· Short and long-range planning techniques applicable to area of specialty.

· Record-keeping techniques.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Summary:

Provides leadership and supervision in the planning, implementation and evaluation of staff and programs which are assigned to Human Services. This position is responsible for ensuring alignment with District goals and mission within the area of assignment.

 

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

· Serve as the custodian of all student data and all student records.

· Coordinate, manage, and assume responsibility for the Student Information System and related Software.

· Coordinate the district’s compliance with school enrollment and attendance laws.

· Serve as custodian for all student attendance records.

· Serve as the district lead for student enrollment processes (online enrollment).

· Verify student registration to ensure legal enrollment funding.

· Ensure teachers and schools are trained in the proper manner of recording and monitoring of pupil attendance.

· Enforce the compulsory attendance laws.

· Visit homes of pupils with excessive absences.

· Hold conferences with principals, teachers, and parents of children with attendance, social or behavioral problems.

· Assist in all records and reports concerning pupil attendance.

· Implement attendance programs, such as PBIS, which are preventative in nature.

· Identify potential truants and dropouts and work with them to prevent the problem rather than treat it after it becomes a problem.

· Provide assistance to individuals in verifying age and/or current address.

· Coordinate all Transfer and Tuition requests.

· Advise and assist school staff with child custody matters.

· Advise and assist schools with reporting to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services involving any child neglect or abuse matters.

· Oversee all homeless youth matters as a function of the Student Service Leadership Team.

· Serve at the discretion of the Superintendent on the establishment of or amendment of student attendance zones.

· Develop and lead the district’s Student Services Leadership Team.

· Serve as the chair and coordinate all meetings.

· Establish an agenda, which will focus on relative and timely student and family issues that may be served through district or community resources.

· Work with district and community partners to provide available services.

· Coordinate the needs of students with supportive social agencies.

· Inform principals and teachers of supportive services, local agencies, welfare, clubs, and social workers.

· Coordinate school health problems with local and state health departments.

· Serve as advisor and consultant to welfare and juvenile agencies and case workers.

· Serve as district court liaison with CDW program in all matters related to juvenile offenders and status offenses (truancy, beyond control, educational neglect, etc.).

· Serve as the district lead for student discipline policy development (Code of Conduct) and training for all staff regarding the implementation of said policies, including working to reduce suspensions at all levels through the development and training support for effective alternative disciplinary options for schools.

· Coordinate student expulsion hearings

· Serve as district hearing officer for disciplinary and attendance hearings.

· Contact parents and explain procedures.

· Coordinate and attend all expulsion proceedings.

· Conduct follow-up programs, evaluations, and research related to students who drop out and provide schools with evidence-based dropout prevention strategies.

· Coordinate district bullying curriculum and implementation.

· Ensure legal compliance with staff training around student services supports (suicide prevention, bullying, duty to report, etc.)

· Coordinate the development and necessary revisions to the school calendar and ensure that instructional day requirements are being met.

· Serve as the designated District Safety Coordinator for both the Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) and within the district, including regular district safety committee meetings and related policy development.

· Work collaboratively with the Lead School Law Enforcement Resource Officer (SLEO) and act as the supervisor for all SLEOs employed in the district. This includes the responsibility for all related personnel actions and organization of the SLEO program.

· Monitor school safety visits from the State School Safety Marshal.

· Work closely with the Principal and school-assigned SLEO to implement all required safety protocols.

· Work with school staff to assist that all threat assessments are provided in a thorough and efficient manner.

· Coordinate district Emergency and Crisis Management Plans implementation and serve as a district first responder in emergency situations.

· Provide direction and oversight of the Mental Health Program through collaboration with the District’s Mental Health Coordinator (including an efficient system to meet the mental health needs of students through the Student Assistance Coordinators - SACs)

· Provide direction and oversight of the Physical Health Program through collaboration with the District’s School Health Coordinator.

· Provide direction and oversight of the Transportation Department through collaboration with the Director of Transportation.

· Serve as the District’s Athletic Director and work collaboratively with school principals and school athletics directors to ensure the athletics program is compliant with the KHSAA and provide direction for continuous improvement, including full access and opportunity for all DCPS students.

· District’s direct line of communication with all School Athletic Directors.

· Organize and publish the District Athletic Handbook annually, with feedback and input from school-level Athletic Directors.

· Willingness to assist schools with all related personnel matters involving Coaches at both the middle and high school levels.

· Work collaboratively with school personnel to problem-solve athletic issues or concerns that may arise.

· Coordinate the district’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) program that strives to enhance access and opportunity for all DCPS students. The DEIB responsibilities will further focus on student attendance, behavior, and SEL as a means to achieve success for all students.

 

· Coordinate all revisions of Board Policies and Procedures related to students and/or student services.

· Serve, along with other Assistant Superintendents and Directors on the Superintendent’s District Leadership Team.

· All other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel. The evaluation will be conducted by the Superintendent.
