Compensation:

Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code 7445

Hours Per Day: 8.0

Contracted Days: 261 Days/Year

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· Any combination equivalent to; high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.

· Must be able to obtain and hold a C.D.L.

 

Knowledge Of:

· Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites.

· Methods, equipment and materials used in maintenance and repair work.

· Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Perform skilled maintenance, repair and construction of District buildings and equipment in one or more craft or trade; assist other trades personnel as needed and work independently in trades such as painting, carpentry, material delivery, spraying, and mowing.

 

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform a variety of maintenance and repair work independently as instructed or assist other skilled trade personnel to maintain school buildings, facilities and grounds in proper condition.

· Perform a variety of building maintenance duties including plaster, drywall and painting interior and exterior buildings and equipment.

· Prepare surfaces for painting; apply finishes and coverings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and cutters as necessary.

· Layout and paint lines on athletic fields and strip pain parking lots using mechanical stripping machine.

· Coat roofs using either paint or asphalt or emulsion roof coating.

· Paint or varnish furniture, equipment, chalkboards or other items.

· Maintain routine records related to maintenance activities.

· Spray pesticides on public property.

· Mow, trim, and maintain the grounds.

· Operate a variety of equipment and machines such as trucks, saws, drills, sanders, stripping machines, airless spray machines and other hand and power tools; operate a forklift as required.

· Understand and follow oral and written directions.

· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

· Estimate labor and material costs and perform quick and accurate calculations.

· Work independently with little direction.

· Meet schedules and time lines.

· Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools.
